Pick your exercise year

You may submit one application per exercise year, whichever route you choose. Pick the year the board is currently running.

Three routes

Which one is yours?

Each route answers a different question about your service record.

Promotion

“I have served long enough at my current grade.” Moves you one rung up — GL 09 to GL 10, and so on.

Conversion

“I have earned a new qualification.” Moves you to a different cadre — for example NCE to degree.

Confirmation

“I have finished my probation.” Makes your appointment permanent. No grade change.

Personal details

Name, date of birth, NIN and the mobile number we use for SMS.

Qualifications

Every certificate you hold, from FSLC through to doctorate.

Employment

First appointment, confirmation, cadre and grade level history.

Documents

Upload the certificates and letters that back up your claims.

Declaration

Check everything, declare it true, and submit to the board.

Before you start

Promotion eligibility rules

These are applied automatically to your application. Reading them first saves a rejected submission.

GL 07 to GL 14 — at least a 3-year gap between your previous and current appointment.
GL 15 and GL 16 — at least a 4-year gap.
FSLC or WAEC — cannot go beyond Grade Level 7.
NCE, NABTEB or OND — cannot go above Grade Level 14.
Degree holders — can reach Grade Level 16, the maximum.
GL 11 does not exist in this structure. The count runs …09, 10, 12, 13… If you are on GL 10, your next rung is GL 12.
